Shoot the Breeze #10: Clowns & Beer & Cascade Mountains
Hey Friends!
Today marks the 10th edition of Shoot the Breeze—a Newsletter for paid subscribers to California Mishegoss.
The back story on the name Shoot the Breeze comes from reading a story one day when the writer mentioned shooting the breeze with friends, which made me think it would be an excellent name for a separate newsletter. So here we are.
I figured maybe it would help start some conversations with family, friends, or even, in some cases, enemies.
The first story is a personal one. Years ago, I had the opportunity to visit this pub with over 1,300 clowns.
I'm not afraid of clowns, but if you are like the friends I visited this establishment with, you'll have issues. The beer is excellent, though!
Enjoy the read today, and as always, thanks for supporting the newsletter.

Cirkuskroen (The Circus Pub),
Aarhus, Denmark
by Atlas Obscura
WILDLY ABSURDIST AND ANYTHING BUT fancy, Cirkuskroen stands out as one of the oldest and smallest pubs in Aarhus, Denmark. Its name honors the Miehe circus family, who ran the establishment in years past. Now owned by Lars Brændstrup Andersen, who is affectionately known as “The Clown” by patrons. This nickname comes from his occasional donning of a clown costume while serving drinks.

This is Lassen Volcanic National Park, one hundred and sixty-five square miles of crystal clear lakes, striking mountain views, and bubbling geothermal activity.
